On The Ground - February 2021
College des Saviors
The students are back in school at CdS! Teachers and students alike were so excited to return to the classroom. Due to the unprecedented interruption of the 20-21 school year by COVID-19, the government has extended the school year through September 2021. This change to the school year impacts the Noyau’s contract with CdS and postpones the start of the MCI until October 2021.
Two more raised beds in the student learning garden were ready to be harvested. Noyau teachers, M. Henriette, and Beya Beya harvested and sold the crops. Beya Beya, along with Director Patrick, keep a record of the money earned to promote accountability. Theft and livestock continue to challenge the garden and are areas for brainstorming and problem solving by the Club of Leaders.
Much of the month of February was spent planning and finalizing the Noyau’s schedule for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. They will focus their time on empowering the Club of Leaders, familiarizing themselves with the National Curriculum in grades 1-8, and selecting potential partner schools for the MCI.
