Our Principles

Our Mission

Malembe Rise empowers young people in the Democratic Republic of Congo to lead with passion and purpose through hands-on learning experiences and opportunities to serve their communities.

Our Vision

We envision a DRC in which every young person is empowered to cultivate their strengths, lead with compassion, and create long term positive change in their communities and beyond.

What We Stand For

Education

A man in a pink shirt writes on a worn blackboard with French text, in a classroom setting.

We believe social, political, and economic equity is achieved through quality education.

Collaboration

Two children wearing white shirts, smiling and embracing outdoors with blurry background.

Collaborative partnerships are the key to sustainable growth.

Understanding

We believe in walking alongside our partners instead of doing for them.

Stability

Steady development and gradual progress lead to sustainable change.

  • Easy fixes and those created outside the community are rarely sustainable. We believe our team, students, families, and community leaders are the experts of their needs and assets.

  • We invest in individuals - teachers and students who will share their knowledge and service with their families, communities, and the world.

  • Combining integrity with action. We are committed to doing what we say we will do. Our actions reflect our words and beliefs.

  • We do not invest in schools but in teachers and students to transfer real learning to affect real change.

  • Malembe, malembe is Lingala for ‘slowly, slowly’, which means taking one step at a time with great intention and purpose.
