Club of Leaders (CoL)

The driving question, "How can we, the members of the Hebrone Club of Leaders (students, parents and supervisors), help the members of the Hebrone community to make our environment sanitized, clean, and healthy?”, has been the focus of the CoL for March and April. The CoL members were afforded various opportunities to build their background knowledge. They visited a local health clinic to study bacteria and viruses. The students also took a field trip to Kibunda primary school in N'sele where the students experienced best practices in hygiene and waste management within a school setting. They learned about proper hand washing, how to burn paper trash and use the ash to wash hands and clean toilets, and how to manage a community well. After the field trip, the students presented skits and poems to share what they had learned with other students that were not able to attend the field trip.

Oh! Leaders Club! Oh! Leaders Club! Thanks to you, we went to Kibunda primary school, a sanitized school where there are good hygiene practices in N'sele. I saw the beauty of a school. The clean yard without waste, a reserved water well for the students, a place reserved for hand washing, well-built toilets that meet hygiene standards, a school learning garden. Oh! Leaders Club!Oh! Leaders Club! With you, we will learn many things. -Poem by student, Mangwende Cele

In March, a local artist and painter, Berlain Mbala, came to Hebron to instruct the students on color mixing and painting techniques. After giving the students a lesson, he returned to work with the students to create a mural depicting the CoL logo and motto on the school wall.
